The Key to Counting Calories

This is a vintage key chain calorie counter from my personal collection. Before the internet, counting calories involved books and pen and paper.  Heck, maybe you even walked to the library to take out a book of calories.

  1. This is totally unrelated, but your first name is very cool. Is there any kind of story behind it or do you know why your parents chose it?

  2. Thanks!

The embellished version is that my mother was a hippie and the name came to her during a "vision." The real story is that my mother was a hippie but knew someone with my name and liked it. : )

  3. That is really true, trying to maintain where you are or losing weight only works if one is willing to lose. This was a very nice post and keep sharing your nice thoughts and experiences like you do.

Mimi, it is a fun little keychain!

  5. LOVE the poem. I'm going to post that somewhere where I can see it, but I'll have to change the last line to:

"In hopes that I'll become petite!"

  6. Roxanne, hi. : )

I have tried commenting on your blog but I am unable to. There seems to be a bug with using firefox and embedded comments versus pop-up windows. I just wanted you to know I am rooting for you!

  7. Thanks for letting me know!

I wonder how I change it to a pop-up? I'll check it out and see. Maybe others are having that problem, too...

  8. I figured it out! All comments systems should be "go" now.
